Our dear friend P. inspired us with an amazing biryani recipe (Thank You!) which we yesterday tried to prepare. That didn't go exactly as planned as we were hungry, impatient, didn't have the big pan which is needed to finalise the dish, at this time of the year the local supermarket didn't have fresh mint and coriander and the tomatoes we forgot to buy were replaced by ready made basil pasta sauce we found in the cupboard. Oh well, the taste is the most important thing and the end result was quite nice even though the end result was more of a chicken tikka masala than a biryani. Practice will continue! Here's first the shopping list for making a biryani (the recipe will follow later on):

- peppercorn (full blackpeppers)

- grounded cardamom
- cinnamon
- grounded fennel (saunf)
- garam masalaa (ready made spice mix)
- nutmeg (optional)
